What’s stopping your success in 2012… and what you need to have in place BEFORE you decide to purchase a new training course like High Performance Academy (Special 5 minute exercise below this content will help you get started with an awesome 2012)

I have been thinking long and hard about what is in the way of success in 2012, and I have come up with a few answers. But I think all the answers come down to two simple things. Before I get to those, I think it is necessary to tell you what is NOT stopping you from success.

Competition is NOT stopping you from success. You can use it to prop you up and send you soaring.
Technology is NOT stopping you from success. It is getting easier and better, although maybe distracting
Lack of guru status is NOT stopping you from success. No one starts a guru, and you know it
Market Saturation is NOT stopping you from success, you already know it is about positioning
Lack of time is NOT stopping you from success. There is a way.
Past products not working is NOT the problem

So what is stopping you? You might not like my answer, because I am going to force you to take responsibility.

The answer is:
Pride and Fear are stopping you from success in the new year.

What do I mean? I mean that your pride has got you stuck on stupid CRAP that no one cares about but you. I mean your fear is stopping you from putting yourself on the line, going out of your comfort zone, and making something happen when it does not yet feel “good enough” or “finished”

I give an example in my latest video, that will be up soon, and it goes something like this:

When creating my first product, I took a course on turning a blog into a marketing machine.

The example blog had a header that went all the way across the top of the screen, no matter what size the screen was… it stretched the header across the whole screen. My blog did not have such a header, and I wanted more than anything to have a similar header, and I spent 3 weeks trying to figure it out.

But in the end… who cares about the header? only me. You do not care. The next person to watch this video will not care. You may think I was stupid… and you are right. But before you get judgmental… look me in the eyes and tell me that you do not care about what your logo looks like, what your product looks like…
If you are like anyone I work with… you get all bent out of shape over it.

I was prideful and wanted my site to look just right, and I was fearful that if it did not look right, it would not sell, or people would write me off as a non professional. But I was wrong, no one would have cared… and my site never actually became profitable even after I made it look the way I thought it should look.

If you are wondering what the site is… it is Englights.com a site I made to sell music that helps children remember English phrases. I never came out with anything but the free gift. No product to sell. Why? Because I did not let myself go. I did not just push out songs that were imperfect and put them on the market.

If I did… I am SURE they would sell. I get new subscribers to my newsletter every single day, and yet, the newsletter only has one message loaded with the download location of the free gift.

So what are you working to perfection? What could you just take and throw out there in its imperfect form? Why haven’t you just started talking to clients even though you do not feel like you perfected your business?

Take 5 minutes to write down any and all things that you care about, but have no clue if they work or not. You might think that sounds silly. But what are you spending your time on?

Write them down below. The more you write, the closer you will be to getting past the things that do not matter. EVEN if you already know that they do not matter… if you are still doing them, then you need to SOLIDIFY their inability to bring you what you need. Once you have them down on paper, you will be one step closer to getting them out of your way, and focusing your time on being truly productive.

Start thinking of ways to STOP yourself from continuing these behaviors, and write those down too.
